Everyone in the nursing field is required to take the AHA BLS Provider Course (American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider Course). The AHA BLS Course is just a formal way of describing CPR in a healthcare setting.
It’s important to know that the AHA BLS Course must be taken in person. Most employers and nursing schools will not accept an online certification. In fact, we've heard from many students that their school requires the entire course to be taken in person. So, we always say: "To be safe, take an all in-person BLS class—and be sure it's through the American Heart Association."
We regularly hear from students who took an online class, only to find out that their school or employer wouldn’t accept it. They often get frustrated when they have to purchase the correct course and pay again. So, save yourself time and money by taking the AHA BLS Course the first time—and remember to recertify every 2 years.
What does the AHA BLS Course cover?
CPR for Adults, Children, and Infants
AED Use
Choking Relief for Adults, Children, and Infants
Airway Management
Overdose Response
Responding to Pregnant Patients
And more!
